LIEUTENANT MILITARY RANK

A lieutenant is a cadet in the defense forces who is a specialist or a bachelor's degree holder. This is the entry-level point to the commissioned officers rank. They are seniors to sergeants and juniors to Captains.

Lieutenants lead platoons of about 50 soldiers. They assume managerial and supervisory duties in platoons. Their job description involves extensive planning, organization and oversight mandates.

This rank has two subdivisions, the First Lieutenant and the Second Lieutenant. A Second Lieutenant becomes a First Lieutenant after 18 to 24 months of service.

First Sergeants are their key assistants as they have more experience than the lieutenants and do most of the ground work in platoons. They train the lieutenants on most of the ground issues. 

Responsibilities of a lieutenant.
General Responsibilities.
The main duty of a lieutenant is to lead a platoon. Additionally, they command a company in the absence of a captain.

A First Lieutenant leads a battery in battalions, thus commanding tank platoons. Supervision of soldiers and inspecting weapons are duties of the lieutenant, together with a first sergeant. They ensure weapons and artillery undergo proper maintainance and are usable at all times. 

Lieutenants lead soldiers in fitness exercises, combat training and drills. They lead troops from the frontline and run operations, therefore overseeing promotions and awarding of soldiers.

Organization of search and rescue missions of missing soldiers falls under a lieutenant's role too.

Specialists' responsibilities.
Engineer Specialists carry out constructions in the military. They build structures like bridges and waterways. Theirs skills offer significant support in identification and destruction of enemy establishments. Engineer cadets repair and maintain some of the military equipment and weapons.

Medical Specialists treat soldiers on and off battlefronts. They treat both soldiers and their families. Their services are of a wide spectrum, ranging from general healthcare to specialist services like dentistry.

Aviation Specialists offer transportation as well as air support in combat. They carry out airstrikes and medical evacuations.

COLONEL RANK - MILITARY

 A colonel is a rank above the lieutenant colonel and a rank junior to a brigadier/brigade general/brigadier general. The colonel is a senior officer in command of a regiment. A colonel is in charge of a regiment or a brigade with 1000-6000 soldiers under their command. Another colonel or a lieutenant colonel can deputize him. A brigadier is a one-star military rank above the colonel and below a major general. A brigadier commands a brigade of 4000 soldiers in groups of battalions. Mostly, the terms brigadier, brigade general and brigadier general mean the same thing.  Sometimes, there exists a difference between the rank of brigadier and a brigade/brigadier general. A brigadier is the highest field officer, while a brigadier general is the lowest of the generals.
