LIEUTENANT MILITARY RANK

A lieutenant is a cadet in the defense forces who is a specialist or a bachelor's degree holder. This is the entry-level point to the commissioned officers rank. They are seniors to sergeants and juniors to Captains. Lieutenants lead platoons of about 50 soldiers. They assume managerial and supervisory duties in platoons. Their job description involves extensive planning, organization and oversight mandates. This rank has two subdivisions, the First Lieutenant and the Second Lieutenant. A Second Lieutenant becomes a First Lieutenant after 18 to 24 months of service. First Sergeants are their key assistants as they have more experience than the lieutenants and do most of the ground work in platoons.
